Yr5 visit to Butterlope Farm

14th Nov 2025

Yesterday our Primary Five class visited Butterlope Farm, just outside Plumbridge. They learnt all about drop calves and how they were to be fed, visited the chicken coop and learnt all about spinning sheep fleeces into wool. After this Annie showed us the berries within the hedgerows and we used these along with wool and clay to make Christmas decorations. After lunch we went into the sheep barn and learnt about different breeds and how to tell the age of a sheep. Then Vinny and Annie brought us into to meet the lambs and everyone got the chance to feed them. We visited Annie’s garden and poly tunnel and saw the huge number of fruit, vegetables and herbs that she grows. We rounded all off with a sit on the tractor and we all agreed it was a fantastic day. Everyone slept soundly last night!!!!
