Year 3 & 4 Shared Play in the Sunshine!
Our Year 3 and 4 pupils have shared play together twice a week and thoroughly enjoy lots of activities in the Creative Station, Loose Parts, Sand and Block/Construction Areas as well as Den Building/Nature activities in our very own ‘Little Learmount’. Today we took advantage of the beautiful sunshine and focused on our Loose Parts, Sand and Den Building/Forest areas.
In Little Learmount, the boys and girls made swings, created a fabulous slide, made campsites and added a hammock! There was lots of imagination, solving problems, taking risks and coping with challenges. Communication and teamwork were excellent as the children worked together to select materials, record information and make changes appropriately. In the sand pit, pupils created castles, volcanoes and fairy villas! We also had a boy who mixed clay and sand to create his own modelling clay! In loose parts, pupils created a Farm cruise ship, a detective’s office and a drum kit!
At the end of the play session, pupils planned ahead for next time when they can put changes into action to make their designs and creations even better. Back in class, during our plenary session, the boys and girls shared their learning and experiences very articulately with their classmates.
