Special Educational Needs Classroom Support Model- Consultation Open
The Education Authority (EA) has launched an eight-week public consultation (24th March to 22nd May 2026) on enhancing the current special educational needs classroom support model.
The Education Authority has issued a letter to parents, informing them of the proposed changes to the classroom assistant support model. Please read letter attached.
Any pupil who currently has one-to-one support will not have that removed at primary school. Moving forward, however, for newly statemented children, the one-to-one model may be replaced by targeted interventions and group based support.
There will be face-to-face and online sessions for parents who wish to find out more about the proposed changes. Click below to register for one of these sessions:
