Year 1 have been very busy helping Olive harvest fruit and vegetables from the school garden. On Friday they picked apples from our apple trees. It was great fun! Some pupils suggested that we make an apple pie, instead we stewed the apples and tried it during snack.
Today we pulled carrots from the planters. Year 1 got so much enjoyment from this task. Olive cut off the tops of the carrots and when the carrots were scrubbed clean children ate them as part of their snack. Both were delicious.
Harvesting apples and carrots generated a lot of good discussion relating to nature, seasons and food. Great work Year 1 and thank you Olive 🧑🏼🌾
