First Holy Communion 28/5/22

28th May 2022

This morning in St. Mary’s Church, Altinure, twelve beautiful girls and nine handsome boys made their First Holy Communion.  Our wonderful Year Four children received the Sacrament of the Eucharist with grace and joy during a very special Mass.  It was great to see all the children read their readings and prayers, sing and carry up the gifts with such reverence and confidence.  We are so very proud of you!  After a long break due to COVID, our school choir returned to sing and play at our Mass today. They sounded amazing and made the ceremony extra special. Afterwards, we were all treated to the ice cream van by Fr. McGavigan and tasty refreshments provided by the PTA in a lovely marquee. Thank you very much!

A special word of thanks to Fr. McGavigan for his visits, time, constant support and spiritual guidance, helping us prepare for this special day.  Thank you to Charlotte, our Faith Formation Coordinator, for all her help, wonderful ideas and visits to our classroom. A huge thank you to our talented Mrs Boyle, the Primary Four teacher, who prepared the boys and girls so thoroughly and also taught the choir! Thanks also to our classroom assistants Pauline, Breena and Aimee.

Thank you to the PTA, especially Louise, for the lovely flower arrangements and Shauna and Michelle for the sweet treats. Thanks to Cora our Chairperson for all her hard work and to Aidan, Margaret Rose, Eimear and the children who gave up their Saturday morning to help with the refreshments. Thanks also to Ronan and Amy for altar serving and to our lovely singers in the choir!

Congratulations boys and girls! Have a wonderful day and God Bless. xxx
