Drawing and Talking Therapy- Open for Referrals

20th Dec 2022

This year, we are delighted to be able to offer Drawing and Talking Therapy to pupils as part of our Extended Schools and Healthy Happy Minds programmes. Drawing and Taling therapy is an attachment-based therapeutic programme suitable for children who have suffered trauma or who have underlying emotional difficulties. Pamela from Neuro Skillshop will offer therapy sessions to pupils on Fridays, starting on Friday 20th January 2023 for 12 weeks. All pupils are eligible but only children most in need of support will avail of this service. We are targeting pupils who have low self-esteem, anxiety or who need support in building up their resilience.

We are setting up a referral procedure for this service, so we can assess and prioritise according to need. We may also consider your child's GL Assessment PASS scores in decision-making as these scores can indicate poor 'Learner Self-Worth' (P4-7). No child will be able to access this service without parental permission. Sessions should last approximately 30 minutes and Pamela has ben recently vetted.

If you feel that this support may benefit your child, please complete the referral form (available at school reception) and return to reception in a sealed envelope (marked 'FAO Drawing and Talking Therapist'.) All information will be treated confidentially and will be available only to the Principal, senior staff and the therapist. If your child is selected, you will be informed in January. Referral forms must be returned by 3pm on Friday 13th January.

I hope this programme proves beneficial.
